Area of Operations

The trust will have an office at Chennai for functional reasons. To begin with the trust will limit its activities to tiruvannamalai district, Tamilnadu, India and all the educational and humanitarian projects will be located at Tiruvannamalai town and its vicinity. Tiruvannamalai is inown as a Temple Town; for the famous Arunachaleswarar Temple is located in this town. It is situated about 200 km south west of Chennai Metropolis. It is easily reachable from surrounding towns and villages through bus. The nearest towns are Tindivanam and Villupuram. Tiruvannamalai is strategically lated and surrounded by heavily populated dalit villages and many other backward communities, majority of whom live below the poverty line.

These people groups are unable to educate their children due to their economic backwardness. Since he source of their livelihood is agriculture they suffer untold miseries when crops fail due to drought and other natural causes. They don’t get a reasonable price for their agricultural produces, though they labour hard and invest large sum. Hence, many inhabitants of these villages are leaving their homes for cities and other places looking for their sustenance. Consequently, they are forced to take up very menial jobs under very poor working conditions and live in slums in the cities, which lack basic amenities. The lot of the people who stay behind in their villages do not improve either.

In this scenario, it is imperative for the Trust to take up the challenging task of not only giving soup to these underprivileged people groups but also do something concrete to improve their economic and social condition so that they will be able to live a dignified life.
